Another DeSoto prospect on the radar

DeSoto, Texas is home to yet another Division I prospect along with Tony Jerod and Cyrus Gray. That is linebacker R.J. Young who is in the midst of early recruiting and track.
The 5-foot-11, 222-pounder recently returned from the junior day at Texas A&M this past weekend. Young is also planning on attending the junior day at Rice and taking a long list of visits during spring break. One school thatl hasn't sent mail is Miami, but Young is hoping to hear from the Hurricanes.

"My dream school has always been Miami," Young said. "But, I don't really have a favorite school of the ones I'm hearing from. I went to Texas A&M's junior day this past weekend and it went pretty well. That was my first time going, but I liked it. They said I was in the mix, but I haven't had any scholarship offers yet from anyone."
Young was a first-team all-district selection as a junior. There may be some position options at the next level.
"Everybody is recruiting me as an outside linebacker or safety," Young said. "I just want to play defense. I'll play linebacker or safety."
Young is participating in track as well running the 200-meter and 400-meter events. He's also part of several relay events as well. He's using the off-season to continue working on his speed.
"People always tell me I'm exciting to watch and that I'm all over the field," he said. "I've got the mentality to hit anything that moves. I'm all about intensity."
