Another De La Salle Linebacker

Throughout the last couple of years the school with the most success of producing top flight linebackers would be Concord (CA) De La Salle. Do they have another star in the making?
Andrew Briner steps into the roll of top linebacker for one of the country's top High School programs. Briner is 5-foot-11 and 235 pounds. He testing totals might be the most impressive of anything else.

"I run the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds," he said. "I also vertical jump 33 inches. I think my advantage is my strength."
"I bench-press 450 pounds and squat 600 pounds."
Those are very impressive numbers. There are not very many that can say they can do that.
"That is correct," he said. "I broke the school record with that bench-press."
How did your season go last year?
"Well, it was pretty good," he said. "I led the team with 17.5 sacks last year."
That kind of season resulted in honors of being named to the all-region, Contra Costa Times All-Star team and North Coast All-Star team selections.
We know the talent is not a question. But, what are his plans about the recruiting situation?
"California is recruiting me the hardest," he said. "UNLV, Southern California and Montana are also recruiting me pretty heavily."
What about your favorites?
"I am pretty sure California will probably offere me," he said. "California is definitely my top team. I am also interested in UCLA, San Diego State and Southern California. I would like to stay in California."
No matter which state he decides to play in at the next level, it will be a very fortunate school that is able to lure him away from the others top schools he is watching.
