Another Commitment For UVA

After a week of good news and bad news, UVA fans can celebrate the teams latest verbal commitment.
"Eddie committed to Virginia today," said the mother of Eddie Pinigis, a 6-foot-8, 285-pound offensive tackle who had offers from Maryland and Wake Forest as well. "I'm thrilled for him. He always grew up as a Virginia fan and I know this was his top choice."

Pinigis had favored Tennessee and Florida and was also interested in Virginia Tech where his uncle played. However, Virginia was too good to pass up.
"He had stars in his eyes a bit when it came to Florida and Tennessee," his mother said. "It's very flattering when those schools tell you they want you and how good you are, but Eddie decided that Virginia wanted him the most and showed it with their offer. He's also a smart kid so academics are important."
Pinigis has been working hard all summer on his footwork and adding strength.
"He's been working so hard and he's so serious about this," she said. "He knows he needs to get stronger and get bigger and I know UVA will help him with that. I couldn't be happier for him."
Pinigis was a first team all-district, all-region and all-area selection as a junior.
