Another Commit For UNC

Just days after North Carolina received a commitment from standout wide receiver Mike Mason, UNC got another verbal pledge who can stretch the field.
"I've always grown up thinking about playing for North Carolina so when they offered, I felt it was right," said new commitment Jon Hamlett, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound tight end from Forest (Va.) Jefferson Forest. "My grandfather played there and I've known about and followed them since I was younger."

Hamlett caught 22 passes last season for 355 yards and a touchdown while garnering all-district honors. He was also being recruited by Virginia, Virginia Tech and East Carolina among others, but UNC was his first offer.
"They want me as a tight end," said Hamlett who can also play defensive end and will probably line up as a linebacker as well this season. "I've really improved my speed over the last year and feel that it's my best position. I'm excited about becoming a Tar Heel.
