Another Cali RB emerging on the scene

The harvest of running backs in the Golden State of California is rich and deep. Another name to remember this recruiting season is Domonique McGee (5-11, 200, 4.5) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra. McGee certainly passes the look test and the talent test, too.
"Domonique is really put together," Serra coach Scott Altenberg said. "Everyone that comes by the school is impressed just looking at him. He's very fast and has a tremendous burst. He really explodes and never goes down with the first contact."

"Domonique is also a real weapon with his hands out of the backfield," Altenberg said. "We're able to go empty with him a lot because he runs like a receiver."
One of the reasons that McGee hasn't been mentioned with the best of the state's running backs is he started every game as a cornerback in 2008.His performance was good enough to earn all-league after racking up 39 tackles and two picks.
"Domonique was our most physical corner last season and will play some corner and some nickel again this year in spots," Altenberg said. "But he's going to carry the load for us this fall at running back so we won't be using him on defense as much."
In a backup role toCarl Winston, who happens to be Serra's all time rushing leader and heading to the Pac 10 (Washington State), McGee rushed for 634 yards and scored seven touchdowns with a long of 51 yards.
The early birds on McGee are Cal, Washington, San Diego State and New Mexico State.
