Another Cali QB to watch

Burbank H.S (Calif.) isn't known for producing a lot of high level Div I talent but next year could be an exception. Quarterback Mike McDonald is a fine looking prospect and is drawing a lot of interest right now.
"I can't say enough about him," Burbank head coach Greg Sobiech said. "I think he's a national level recruit and one of the best quarterbacks I've ever seen. I've never seen feet like he has plus he has a cannon for an arm and is very smart. He was raised in a football family. His dad, Mike Sr. played at USC for John Robinson's 1978 National Championship team and was a long snapper for the Rams for a few years.

"So as a result, Mike has a great feel for the game, it just comes so natural for him since he was raised on the sport. We made the playoffs last year for the first time in years and Mike was the main reason. He's a great player and a great leader on our team. I'm very excited to see how things play out for him recruiting wise.
"I sent a tape out to about 25 colleges and just about every one of them is sending him letters now saying they're interested. He's invited to UCLA's Junior Day this weekend and is looking forward to it. He's also going to camp with USC on April 25 and will attend the Nike camp at Stanford in May."
As a junior, McDonald threw for 1,914 yards and 21 touchdowns and also totaled 70 tackles and picked off six passes on defense. He's currently hearing from USC, UCLA, Ohio State, Arizona State, Tennesse, Washington, Penn State, Oregon, Wyoming and the Ivy League.
“Right now, USC would be my favorite school,” McDonald said. “They run a great offense and have a lot of tradition. My dad played there so that's the school I grew up watching. I’m also very interested in UCLA, Ohio State, Arizona Sate, and Tennessee. I really want to find a school that I can excel in football and get a great education.”
McDonald currently has a 2.9 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year.
