Another Bobcat in the den
Cy Fair's Sam McGuffie isn't the only Division I junior prospect coming out of the Bobcat den.
Offensive lineman Chris Lathrop (6-4, 270-pounds) is receiving stacks of mail from the likes of Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Iowa, Utah, Arizona State and Connecticut.

"He's getting more mail than me," McGuffie laughs needling Lathrop. "I know Tech loves him and they may offer soon."
Lathrop is the only returning offensive lineman, which opened holes for McGuffie all season. McGuffie rushed for 44 touchdowns and 3,121 yards earning Greater Houston Offensive MVP by the Houston Chronicle. Lathrop earned second-team, all-district honors.
"I'll run behind this guy anytime," he said.
Lathrop thrives at run-blocking in Cy-Fair's ball-control offense, which mimicks Texas A&M's philosophy. It's no wonder that Cy-Fair's head coach played for the Aggies, and Lathrop's leader wears maroon and white.
"If Texas A&M offers, I'm not saying it's over, but it's close," Lathrop laughs. "I've been a fan for years."
