Another Allen WR picks up offer

DALLAS - While much of the attention at Allen (Texas) High School has gone to receiver Dan Buckner, a Texas commit, fellow pass-catcher Coby Jones is already on the board with his first scholarship offer.
Coming in at the 5-foot-11 3/4, 189-pound mark at the Rivals.com Junior Day at Southern Methodist University, Jones says that his first offer came from an in-state school after attending a camp with one of his teammates.

"I got an offer from Rice and I'll say, I didn't expect them to be first," Jones said. "I went to two of their camps with Nathan Dick. The coaches liked how I played and they wanted to offer me."
Jones, primarily a receiver at Allen, says that he can do more than just haul in passes.
"I could see myself as a defensive back or a receiver," Jones said. "I don't care as long as I get to play."
Selected to the second-team all-district team, Jones describes himself as "smart" and "explosive."
Though the first offer is from the Owls, several other schools are showing him interest.
"I'm also hearing from Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Colorado, Duke, UCF, and I talked with a coach at Arkansas the other day," Jones said. "I still don't have a favorite yet though."
