Andrews getting ACC interest

Darren Andrews was one of the best players this past weekend at the Southern Cal Rivals.com Showcase Powered by FBU Select and now he's seeing his recruitment pick up.
It's from a few surprising places though.

Duke and Maryland are the two programs showing the most interest in Andrews, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound three-star prospect who said he plans to camp at both schools sometime this month.
"It's picked up a little bit," Andrews said. "Duke and Maryland have gotten involved in the recruiting process. I'm going down to a camp down there this month and maybe I could get an offer there.
"It's really exciting. I always wanted to go out of the state. I didn't want to stay in California. I wanted to go somewhere new and experience something new so it could be a good experience."
UCLA is showing a little interest in the La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat standout but it's mainly the two ACC programs involved the most.
Coaches from Duke and Maryland recently stopped by Bishop Amat to check Andrews' transcripts and watch his film and both got interested. Soon, the three-star will visit both campuses to see if he can pick up an offer.
"It was my film," Andrews said. "They came up to my school one day and pulled my transcripts and they liked me. That's where it started with them showing interest."
