Anderson garners wide-ranging interest

The schools that have made things official with Jacksonville (Fla.) University Christian School wide receiver Otis Anderson don't fit anyone's definition of the word local. The North Florida-based sophomore holds offers from Cincinnati and Oregon State.
He's happy to have the opportunities, but the process of learning about each program is, well, a process.

"I talk to Cincinnati the most," said Anderson, a prospect in the class of 2017. "They wanted me to come out for a visit this summer, but the coach I talked to about that is now at Florida, so I need to talk to somebody else about that visit. I need to confirm that visit."
The buzz doesn't end with the two offers, though. Anderson is hearing from a number of other schools that are yet to make things official. His relationships with various coaching staffs are growing, and Anderson is hoping something sprouts from those connections soon.
"I'm hearing from Maryland, Wake Forest, Miami and Nebraska right now," Anderson said. "I think the next offer could be Maryland. That's a guess."
In case the offer does materialize, Anderson has done some preliminary research on Maryland. He isn't an expert on the Terrapin program yet by any means, but he likes what he's discovered so far.
"I like the type of plays that they run," Anderson said. "I feel like the spread is my kind of offense, but I'm very versatile. I feel like I can fit into any type of playing style."
The 5-foot-10 slot receiver is in the early stages of formulating offseason travel plans. On top of a possible trip to Cincinnati, Anderson also hopes to tour North Carolina sometime this offseason. While Anderson isn't certain which schools he'll visit this summer, he knows what he'll be looking for when he arrives on campus.
"Academics are most important," he said. "I want the school to have my major, and that's going to be either sports management to physical therapy."
