Anderson confident with USF pledge

For Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High cornerback R.J. Anderson, being able to play both football and baseball in college was a key factor in his choice of schools. Now he says his commitment to South Florida is firm because they will give him that opportunity.
“I’m not really talking to other schools, just South Florida right now,” Anderson said. “They’re letting me play both sports, and that, and coach Leavitt [head coach Jim] and coach Rachel [defensive backs coach Rich] were the main reasons I decided on South Florida.”

Anderson said he made an unofficial visit to the school over their homecoming and came away impressed.
“They showed me around and took me into their new facilities,” he said. “I’m not planning on any official visits. My visit reminded me that being close to home and playing two sports were the main reasons for me. Things like being in the Big East weren’t a big deal.”
Now Anderson is ready to get back to his current task at hand: keeping Armwood High’s winning streak alive.
“Things are going great,” Anderson said. “We’re 8-1, but our only loss was a game where we used an ineligible player and had to forfeit. I’ve been playing pretty strong. I have five interceptions and 11 pass breakups. I’m a great athlete, and I make mistakes but my speed can make up for it. I’m still not great fundamentally, but once I get it down I think I will be a great player. Right now the speed is getting me by, so I will need to get better for the future.”
