THE LATEST

Michigan gave Pesek-Hickson his first FBS offer back in October, and he committed to the Wolverines three weeks later while in Ann Arbor on an official visit. The multi-sport prospect had not played football during his sophomore and junior seasons, but returned to the gridiron as a senior. No other FBS programs offered Pesek-Hickson before the commitment, but he did have one from FCS program Missouri State. Pesek-Hickson did not sign in the early period because, as he explains it, head coach Jim Harbaugh wanted him to hit some academic marks in the first semester of his senior year. Pesek-Hickson says he has hit those marks, but will not be signing with Michigan when the Late Signing Period opens on Wednesday.

IN HIS WORDS

“After much reflection and prayer, I’ve decided to keep my options open and not sign on national signing day. It is not because I’m de-committing from Michigan, it’s simply because they will not let me sign.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

According to Pesek-Hickson, Michigan has asked him to reclassify and sign in the class of 2020. The Kansas City-area prospect has not de-committed from Michigan, but is not sure whether he will reclassify and plans to consider his options. Pesek-Hickson played primarily running back for Blue Valley North as a senior, but Michigan was targeting him more to fill a role on the defensive side of the football, most likely in a linebacker role. According to Pesek-Hickson he has scored a 30 on the ACT and his most recent semester GPA was a 3.1, so academically he appears to be in order.

UPDATE: Pesek-Hickson announced Monday afternoon that he has now de-committed from Michigan. One of the options on the table for him appears to be Kansas with new head coach Les Miles. Pesek-Hickson visited the Jayhawks this past weekend.
