Allen talks about West Virginia

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central wide receiver Davonte Allen took his second official visit this weekend traveling to West Virginia. The talented wideout, who had previously visited Marshall, talked about his time in Morgantown.
"It was nice," Allen said. "When I got there we ate with the team and then we went out and walked around campus, talked to a lot of the people around there. Later we broke up as individuals and talked to coaches. I learned a lot more about the offense while I was there."

During the visit, Allen learned more about the offense run by new offensive coordinator, and future head coach, Dana Holgorsen.
"They run a spread offense where they throw it a lot and three receivers are always on the field," Allen said. "They just throw it a lot. It is definitely appealing to me as a wide receiver."
In order to learn even more about the offense, Allen sat down and spoke one-on-one with current head coach, Bill Stewart, and one of his staff members.
"I talked with the receivers coach and Coach Stewart," Allen said. "I was asking them if I could come in and play right away and they were like yes, you can work your way in if you work hard right away. They asked me if I wanted to get redshirted and I told them no, I want to play my first year. That was pretty much it."
The three-star wide receiver was hosted by freshman wideout Ivan McCartney.
"I didn't know him before I got there, but we got along well," Allen said. "He said that anywhere you go you are going to have to work for a position but up there they look out for one another and everybody takes care of one another."
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver came close to committing while on the visit.
"I was pretty close," Allen said. "They definitely made a good impression on me."
Over the remainder of his recruitment, Allen plans to visit South Florida on Jan. 21st and UCF on Jan. 28th. A visit to Miami is also a possibility, but the Hurricanes have yet to offer.
"They have said they are going to offer me after seeing my highlight tape," Allen said of the Hurricanes. "They are supposed to be talking with me tomorrow."
On his senior season, Allen had 29 receptions for 746 yards and eight touchdowns.
