With 1,807 yards and 23 touchdowns, Allen, Texas, running back DeMyron Martin is taking the Dallas Metroplex and the Texas state playoffs by storm. He’s soon about to shake things up also on the recruiting front.
Martin and his Allen teammates will battle Southlake Carroll in the Texas Class 5A Division II semifinal at 4 p.m. this Saturday at Texas Stadium. But in between getting ready for that big battle, Martin has been struggling with trying to figure out what schools he’s going to take official visits to.
But the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Martin is starting to get closer toward that.
“I just heard from Chris Smith tonight that Texas A&M is going to offer me,” Martin said. “They called me about 15 minutes ago, but I wasn’t in quite yet. I just returned your call and then I’m going to call them back and see what they have to say.”
Even if the Aggies offer, Martin said he’s not going to commit yet.
“I want to take some visits still,” he said. “I want to base my decision on those visits.”
In line to get visits for sure at A&M, SMU and TCU. He has scholarship offers from SMU, New Mexico State and Tulsa and is getting regular interest also from A&M, TCU and Baylor.
“I’m the type of running back that will give you a little bit of this and a little bit of that,” he said.
“I’ll give you a little bit power on one play, and then on another play I’ll give you a little bit of speed,” he said. “Then I can also catch the ball and pass block. The coaches have told me that I have a great package and am pretty complete in what I do.”
