Dejon Allen really liked Arizona State throughout his recruitment especially after visiting Tempe in the last few months and so the Compton (Calif.) Dominguez offensive guard decided he didn't need to wait any longer to make his commitment.
Allen, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospect, ended his recruitment Tuesday when he picked the Sun Devils over Boise State, Washington, Utah, UCLA, San Diego State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona and others.
"I really liked it out there," Allen said.
"I didn't want to wait. I had other schools to go to but I felt Arizona State was right so I went ahead and committed.
"The environment when I went out there I loved it. Everybody knew me and I just felt good."
Arizona State continues its raid on California players by adding Allen, the seventh commit for the Sun Devils this recruiting cycle. All of them are from Southern California including four from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly alone.
Allen has looked good at numerous camps this spring especially the Asante Trenchmen Academy in Carson, Calif. The Dominguez standout will continue to add weight and already has lots of strength. Teammates Lacy Westbrook and Brandon Beaver are both four-star prospects.
The Sun Devils were always a favorite for Allen, who said he will continue to look at Washington and other programs but he's pretty much set with his decision.
"I was trying to get it done now," Allen said.
"If anything comes up where I don't feel right about Arizona State I could go someplace else like Washington but if Washington falls off then I'd have to research my other offers."
