Marcus Allen is only a rising junior but he's a prospect to watch and one of Maryland's best from 2014.
The Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise prospect, a 6-foot-1, 174-pound safety, has offers from Pitt and Maryland, two schools that will soon be part of the same conference.
He's also got plenty of interest from other schools.
"The only visits I've taken so far are to Pittsburgh and Maryland," Allen said. "I got offered by those schools. They were just visits. I couldn't participate in camp because of an injury."
Allen's injury basically amounts to a pulled muscle and he believes he'll be back to 100-percent within three weeks.
Bobby Engram is Allen's lead recruiting from Pitt while he has spoken to Randy Edsall from Maryland in person.
"Coach Engram and me have a good relationship," Allen said. "We talk on the regular. I'll call him all the time.
"I talked to Coach Edsall at Maryland's camp. I was going to support my friend and our quarterback."
Penn State, West Virginia and Virginia Tech are some of the other schools that are showing early interest in Allen.
"I can't put a team over anybody else right now," Allen noted. "It's too early in the recruiting process."
Allen believes most schools are recruiting him as a safety.
