Allen commits to Thundering Herd

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central wide receiver Davonte Allen narrowed his list to West Virginia and Marshall earlier this week, but it took nearly every second leading up to Signing Day for him to make his final decision.
"Probably just last night," Allen said of when he decided. "Really it was down to the wire with them and West Virginia. I just talked about it with my parents and picked the place that worked best for me."

A major reason for his commitment was the comfort he felt while on his visit to Marshall back in late October.
"On the visit, I could just see myself playing there and I liked the atmosphere," Allen said. "I like the way the coaches were talking to me. I just can see myself playing in that type of offense."
The talented South Florida wide receiver also sees an opportunity to contribute early on as a member of the Thundering Herd.
"Really it just seemed like a great opportunity to come in there and play early," Allen said. "I like the offense. I think I fit into it really well. I think I can play a big role in the offense with the way they throw the ball around. I just see myself doing something big there."
Doc Holliday won out for the 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver over West Virginia, Central Florida, South Florida, and Miami for Allen's services.
On his senior season, Allen had 29 receptions for 746 yards and eight touchdowns.
