Allen back in the fold for UGA

An early commitment and subsequent decommitment from Georgia didn't stop Rivals250 offensive lineman Pat Allen from ending up in Athens. Despite taking all five of his official visits, The Bulldogs have landed a commitment from Reisterstown (Md.) Franklin's star senior.
"After meeting the new offensive line coach, I really thought about it and I committed to the University of Georgia for the school," said the 6-foot-4, 285-pound Allen. "I was really comfortable in that area and with the people there. I didn't let the coaching staff be why I committed. I let the area and the school speak for themselves.

"With coach Schottenheimer being there, a guy I can relate to coming from St. Louis, that's a plus," he said. "That's a plus for me because he has been there and knows what it is like there so we can relate."
Official visits to Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas and Michigan weren't enough to alter Allen's feelings about Georgia.
"Nothing really changed about they way I felt about Georgia," Allen said. "I've been talking Oklahoma and Tennessee but I still had the feeling that I needed to be at Georgia. Mainly the people, the area and the education are the things I really liked. The way they work with their players is amazing. All of that helped me make my decision."
The Bulldogs leaned on their running game last year and all of that starts up front. Allen is looking to make his presence felt on the offensive line.
"I feel like I can make an impact," he said. "At Georgia they have some really competitive players and that's going to help me grow. Going against some really great defensive ends and defensive tackles."
Allen helped lead Franklin to another state championship last season.
