All Togba wants is a chance

Grayson, Ga., two-star athlete Kareem Togba was one of the many recruits that opened eyes of scouts at the MSL Combine last month at Georgia Tech. Now he’s hoping to take the success from that event and carry it over to the field and on to college.
“I’m getting a lot of attention, but not any offers yet,” Togba, who is 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, but was clocked at 4.4 several times this summer in the 40-yard dash, said. “South Carolina, Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest and Duke are the main ones. Some of them like South Carolina and Mississippi are talking about offering. I would like to take some visits and see the places, people and see what the schools are like.”

Size is the main thing keeping Togba from early offers. Some coaches are scared away by his height, but once they see him in person or on film, they’ll discover he’s a solid prospect.
“I would like to play offense in college,” he said. “I know with my height and my speed that most people are going to put me at corner, but I would rather be on offense. I think I have the speed, quickness and really good awareness to make up for the size. My ability to make big plays with the ball more than makes up for my size.”
That’s the truth.
In Grayson’s first scrimmage, Togba took a short dump off pass for 50 yards. It was a play that people at the game said would take the college scouts’ breath away.
“I’m just going to continue to work hard and show them what I have,” he said. “That’s the only way that I can do it.”
