All-American Bowl feels right to Yancy

The decision about where to play college football wasn't the only decision that William Yancy has been considering recently. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound defensive end from Glendale (Ariz.) Ironwood had multiple invitations to play in postseason All-American games, but he said in the end he just had a feeling about the Offense-Defense All-America Bowl.
"We sat down as a family and talked about things all night long," Yancy said. "We just decided the Offense-Defense game felt right. I just felt more comfortable with the idea of going down to Florida and playing with all of the great players that Rivals.com invited to be in the game.
"It just felt right."
Yancy, who will represent the West on the defensive line, is one of 80 players in the Jan. 4 game that will be played in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and broadcast live on ESPNU. Few players have become hotter recruiting targets this fall than Yancy, and he is an excellent addition to the roster.
"People are going to see a guy with a non-stop motor, a guy with high energy," Yancy said. "For a guy my size, they might not believe that I'm as fast or strong as I am. I'm more of a silent assassin. I'll sneak up on you and before you know it, I've made the big play.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity and really honored that I got invited to play. I'm going to make the most of this opportunity."
Yancy has scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Purdue, Washington State and Oregon State. He listed his top five schools as Nebraska, Purdue, Arizona, Arizona State and Oklahoma. He has already taken official visits to Nebraska, Purdue and Arizona State. He was slated to visit Oklahoma this weekend, but said there was a miscommunication and he might take the visit in January - if he hasn't made a decision by then.
"The recruiting process has been really exciting," Yancy said. "I can't say it's been bad, because it's been really exciting. It's like stormy weather. You have the waves when you go up and down. But I wouldn't trade it for anything because this is a once-in-a-lifetime type thing. Surely in the next week or so I'll probably be ready to make a decision. I'm working on getting things squared away."
