Alaniz is starting to pick up interest

Offensive guard Christopher Alaniz out of Winchester (Va.) James Wood is garnering college interest. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder has a variety of schools checking him out in the early going.
"I've been getting some invites to games and junior days from Division I and Division II teams," he said. "I'm going to be heading to UMass in a couple weeks for a junior day. I've gotten invites to games from Duke, Virginia and Notre Dame."

Does Alaniz like anybody?
"I don't really have a preference," he said. "I went on visits with my brother during the recruiting stage and I liked going to Virginia and Duke. They were both good atmospheres with football and the all-around school."
Alaniz is looking for a few things in a college.
"I'm looking really for a higher education. I want to go into criminal justice," he said. "I don't really know if I like a large community school, so outside of that I just want to go play at the next level."
As a junior, Alaniz posted second team all-area, second team all-district and all-academic team honors as he helped James Wood to the playoffs.
The lineman went in-depth on his ability more.
"I'd say that I'm pretty quick off the ball and have pretty good hands," he said. "I'm still trying to improve on my strength and overpowering whoever I block. I'm working on maintaining the outside too."
