Alabama TE to visit Cards, Tigers

Three-star Prattville (Ala.) tight end Travis McCall has scheduled his first two official visits and narrowed his list to four schools.
“I’ve set one visit up for Clemson on Jan. 16 and one for Louisville on Jan. 9,” he said. “Two others will be Alabama and Auburn, but I don’t have a date for those. I’m not sure if I’ll take a fifth one. Those are pretty much the four schools I’m looking at.”

Asked what he liked about Clemson and Louisville, McCall said: “Really, it’s the same thing with both of them. Their tight ends are leaving, so they’ve got a spot for me to come in and play early. That’s what I like the most. Now I just need to see the schools and talk to the other players and coaches to find out if those places are somewhere I’d fit in.”
Alabama is thought to be the frontrunner for McCall (6-2, 235, 4.78), who is rated the No. 9 tight end in the nation by Rivals.com. Although he has said in previous interviews that he grew up a big fan of the Crimson Tide, he now maintains that he is “wide open.”
Alabama has picked up commitments from two other tight ends in the Class of 2004 – home state products Nick Walker and Trent Davidson – so that appears to be drawing the rest of the pack closer to the Tide.
“It’s pretty even between all four of them,” he said. “Nobody’s on top right now. I’ve got to find the best place for me, personally.”
McCall has helped lead Prattville to a 10-0 record and the state’s No. 1 ranking going into the Class 6A playoffs.
Academically, he carries a 2.5 GPA and has scored an 18 on the ACT. He projects as a full-qualifier.
