Alabama's the latest to offer 2020 DB Dawson Ellington

Before he even started high school, Dawson Ellington picked up his first offer. Louisville offered the 2020 defensive back out of College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy last summer. He had to wait a while for offer No. 2, but he got it late spring, then No. 3 and No. 4 came it pretty soon after that.

Tennessee was the second school to offer the 5-foot-11, 172 pound soon-to-be sophomore, then it was LSU with those two offering late in May. Ellington took a trip to Tuscaloosa (Ala.) this week and Alabama offered after his camp performance.

Ellington does not a lot about LSU or Tennessee yet, but he has attended a Junior Day at Alabama, he saw the Crimson Tide play twice in 2016 and he spent hours at camp a few days ago.

He knows a good bit about the school that wouldn't let him leave before offering him.

"I was just about to head to the car to go back home after camp and coach [Derrick] Ansley (defensive backs) asked me to stay if I could," said Ellington. "He wanted me to workout a little more with him and he liked my speed, the way I compete and how I was locking down the receivers, so he wanted to offer me before I left.

"It is amazing to be offered by Alabama. They are one of the top programs in the country, they have top facilities, the coaches are great and everything there is top notch.

"I like them a lot and it really feels great to now have this offer. Alabama is one of the top schools in the nation, so this is big."

Ellington does not have favorites yet, it is too early for that he said.
