Justin Moon says he's firmly committed to the University of
Alabama despite confirmation Thursday that head coach Dennis Franchione has
left the Crimson Tide for the top job at Texas A&M.
"The way I'm looking at it, I'm with a program, not
a coach," he said. "This is Alabama football, and we're going to go take
care of business no matter who the coach is. I'm ready to put that uniform
on and play for the Tide.
"I know this much: I'm glad I wasn't down there
around those boys today. I heard on the radio someone say that his players
tore down his pictured and stomped all over it. A bunch of people are pretty
upset down here tonight, but things are going to be OK. Alabama's bigger
than one coach."
Moon (6-5, 290, 5.2), a member of the Rivals.com
Alabama
Top 30 team and the No. 23 offensive tackle in the nation,
did admit to some initial disappointment.
"I really liked the offensive line coach (Jim Bob
Helduser)," he said. "I was really looking forward to playing for him, but
he's a Texas guy just like coach Fran, so I figure he'll be moving on too."
Although he's a solid verbal, he has many questions
he'd like addressed by the Crimson Tide.
"Nobody's called me or anything," he said. "It would
be nice if somebody picked up the phone and let us know what's going on. I'm
sure somebody will eventually, but we're all wondering what's going to
happen next."
