Alabama OL back from Nebraska

Things are heating up for Russellville (Ala.) offensive lineman John Watts.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound offensive tackle has seen interest pick up from two schools which have become his co-leaders, including one he scrambled to visit this weekend.

“I just got back from Nebraska,” he said. “They offered me this past week, and we put together an official visit for this weekend. It went pretty good. We had some real bad weather out there – an ice storm – and our flight got cancelled out of Lincoln. We had to drive to Omaha to get another one, so we’re all pretty tired right now.
“Nebraska’s a nice place. The main thing that stood out to me is the tradition. It’s unbelievable. Any football fan would be impressed by it. I liked the coaches and players, too. They had some good recruits in there this weekend. It’s given me something to think about.”
Watts has added a scholarship offer from the Cornhuskers to go along with previous ones from Louisville, Clemson, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Southern Miss and UAB.
And now it appears one of the home state schools is turning up the heat.
“Auburn called me last week and they called again tonight,” he said. “They talked to me tonight about coming for an official visit next weekend, so I think they might be ready to offer, too.”
Watts said Auburn and Nebraska would likely be the two schools he’ll choose between on signing day.
“I’m going to take that visit and see how things go,” he said. “I’m keeping an open mind to both of them right now.”
