Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars: West's signing with Stanford Dec. 20

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Since committing to Stanford in July, Jack West has only had his eye on the Cardinal. The four-star quarterback out of Saraland (Ala.) is in Mississippi this weekend for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game and when he gets back home next week, he will be signing with Stanford.

His recruitment will officially be over.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I have been going to Stanford for about a year and a half and I know that is where I want to go, so I want to sign as early as I can," said West. "Stanford and I are on the same page, so it is great.

"I was not able to make a game this season, but I will be out there January 11 with all of the commitments for my official visit. I am looking forward to that.

"There have been some coaching changes, but that does not affect me at all. Coach [Tavita] Pritchard has always been my guy and we talk a lot. I am committed to Stanford for Stanford too, so my feelings have not changed.

"I think the speed of the game will be the biggest transition going from high school out to Stanford. I can even tell it out here at this all-star game — everyone is just faster. It will be about me being on time, getting the ball out of my hand and knowing where to go.

"I am now working on being in the best shape and preparing myself to get out there when I graduate. I am going to work hard and do all I can to help Stanford win.

"When I get to Stanford, it is going to really help me be the best person I can be No. 1. It is also going to develop me as a student, then as a football player too. I think it is the best place for me now to get me ready for the future."
