Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars: Lovett's still a 'tad bit' open

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — There has been a lot going on in the state of Mississippi. Mississippi State had a coaching change, Ole Miss took the interim tag off Matt Luke's name and the Rebels were hit with sanctions from the NCAA.

This week the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game will be played and one of the top prospects participating is Fabien Lovett. The defensive tackle out of Olive Branch (Miss.) committed to Mississippi State in August, but there is a new leader in Starkville and Lovett spent time with him last weekend.

The Bulldogs appear to be in good shape, but two other SEC programs remain on his radar.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I am still stuck on Mississippi State, but I am still open — just a tad bit," said Lovett. "Alabama and Ole Miss are the main schools I am still looking at right now.

FIRST IMPRESSION: "I got to know a lot of the new coaches during my official visit last week and they are were pretty cool. I spent some time with them last weekend during my official visit and I like them all. Coach [Joe] Moorhead has energy and he is laid back. I liked him.

VISIT TO OXFORD: "Ole Miss has told me not to worry about the allegations and to just come to Ole Miss and make an impact as a freshman. They feel I can have a big impact there. I will take an official visit to Ole Miss January 19, so I will go back and check them out one more time before I sign.

TIDE DEVELOPMENT: "Alabama is saying a lot of the same things to me as Ole Miss. They have talked about the number of defensive linemen they have put into the NFL and I like that. I do not have a date for an official visit set with them yet, but I do plan to take one.

COMMITMENT STATUS: "Something a little crazy would have to happen for me to change my mind. I still feel good about Mississippi State. We have a good recruiting class coming in, I like the new coaching staff, so I still feel I am strong with my commitment."
