Recruiting Rundown: Four-star quarterback Myles Brennan said he still considers himself an LSU commit but he also added that he plans on taking an official visit to California following the dead period. The Bears seem like a good scheme fit for Brennan and he said he’s looking forward to seeing what Cal has to offer… Three-star defensive back C.J. Avery lists Cal in his final four, but with a decision coming next week it seems like the Bears are a long shot. This week Avery said his decision will likely come down to Louisville and Auburn. He is set to announce on Dec. 14.

DUKE

On the field: Offensive line commit Rakavius Chambers moves incredibly well for his size and showcased a strong lower body when it came time to set blocks in one-on-one work. He turned in the best performance of any offensive lineman during the morning session and carried that momentum forward into the afternoon.

LOUISVILLE

Recruiting Rundown: The Cardinals are still very much in the mix for uncommitted three-star safety C.J. Avery with his decision coming on Dec. 14. Avery recently officially visited the Cardinals and said that of the schools still in the mix for his services, he sees a clearer path to playing time in Louisville. His final four programs are Mississippi State, California and Auburn, with the Tigers and Cardinals appearing to be the frontrunners

NORTH CAROLINA

Recruiting Rundown: Tar Heel commit Brian Anderson says Auburn is the biggest threat to change his mind before Signing Day. He says the Tigers sit in the No. 2 spot behind North Carolina for the time being. And while he remains strong in his commitment, he is keeping an open mind and will likely visit Florida in the coming month.

STANFORD

Ryan Johnson
Ryan Johnson

Recruiting Rundown: Four-star defensive end Ryan Johnson plans to visit Stanford on Jan. 13 before visiting Auburn, Alabama and possibly Texas. Johnson says he his nearing the end of the Stanford application process and should submit his application this week. Johnson has visited Stanford once in the past, so the fact that he is choosing to rerun is certainly not without meaning.

On the field: Johnson was relatively quiet on Tuesday but did split the one-on-one reps he took. He has decent size but could stand to add muscle before he’s ready to impact the college game.

USC

Alec Jackson
Alec Jackson

Recruiting Rundown: Four-star defensive end Ryan Johnson named USC as part of his top six but has not decided if he will be able to make an official visit to the school’s campus. On Monday, Johnson said he “may try to fit a visit in,” but seemed less than certain. Johnson cites the playing career of Trojans’ assistant Kenechi Udeze, who is handing his recruitment, as the driving force behind his USC interest... Uncommitted defensive end Alec Jackson says USC currently leads his recruitment by default because his only official visit was to Los Angeles. He is scheduled to visit Auburn, Florida and Ole Miss next month.

On the field: USC commit Marlon Williams had a solid one-on-one morning session, winning more reps than he lost. Williams showed off strong hands and made a handful of plays in 7-on-7 skeleton as well... Meanwhile, Jackson was one of the most impressive defensive players on Tuesday.
