Killen (Ala.) Brooks offensive guard Evan Cardwell earned ASWA Class 4A all-state honors as a junior, but it could be just one of many honors as he turns into one of Alabama’s better targets for the Class of 2005.

Cardwell, who is 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, is already getting heavy attention from Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn, but he’s yet to earn his first scholarship offer. Yet, that might be coming soon because of his ability to get down and dirty in the trenches.
“I grew up an Alabama fan,” Cardwell said.
“But I’m still very much undecided about what factors will be important for me when it comes time to make a decision. I’ll for sure go to some summer camps, but I’ve not made up my mind on that, too.”
Cardwell’s coach, Chris Balentine, said Cardwell has a shot at being something special for somebody.
“He’s a really impressive blocker and he could also be a guy that gets some looks on defense,” Balentine said. “We’ve had a lot of kids come through here, guys like Williams and Freddie Roach to Alabama, and Evan should be right up there with them.”
