Carlton Rice is holding steady on one official scholarship
offer, but could be on the verge of more in the days to come.
Rice (6-1, 206, 4.6), a member of the Rivals.com
Alabama
Top 30 team, said Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Tennessee,
Wisconsin, Memphis, UT-Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee continue to call on
a regular basis.
"UT-Chattanooga is the only one to offer so far, but
it sounds like Memphis will any day now," he said. "They said all they need
is another tape from the end of my season to see if it looks as good as the
first one, then they'll probably offer.
"Georgia Tech is showing a lot of interest, too.
Coach (Brick) Haley calls me a whole lot. He says to stay patient because
I'm definitely still on their list. I'm trying to be patient and open to all
of these teams, but I'd really like for something to happen with Georgia
Tech. I liked it a lot when I was down there for camp this summer."
Rice said Georgia Tech is in the process of setting
up an official visit for him. He's unsure of what other visits he'll make,
but Ole Miss and Memphis would likely be in the mix.
As a senior at J.O. Johnson High School, Rice rushed for 1,440 yards and 17
touchdowns and caught 230 yards in passes with three touchdowns as an
all-purpose back. As a linebacker, he recorded 85 tackles, five sacks and
two interceptions.
