Alabama four-star 2022 QB has double-digit offers

Now that Tanner Bailey has picked up an offer from Georgia, the 2022 quarterback out of Gordo (Ala.) has double-digit offers.

There will be more.

Rivals.com is high on the 6-foot-2, 191 pound signal caller, and Bailey likely would have drawn a lot of attention this spring with college coaches typically hitting the road hard in May, but with the Coronavirus shutting schools down and keeping the country at home, the spring heading into his spring year has been canceled.

Coaches do have more time to watch film though, and Georgia saw Bailey's, then quickly offered.

"When coach Monken offered, it was pretty surprising," said Bailey. "He has just been at Georgia for around three months, so he is a new coach there and he is starting to look at different quarterbacks.

"He talked to me about what he is looking for in a quarterback, and he said some of the things he likes about my game are my poise, my quick release, my accuracy, and how I am a quarterback that can throw well, but still run some."

Bailey camped in Athens last year and he is ready to get back when the opportunity presents itself.

"I grew up in the south, so I know all about SEC ball. I have watched Georgia a lot over the years and they have big winning tradition, they have shown they can produce quarterbacks and I love the campus and the facilities I saw when I was there last summer. I was really happy when I got the Georgia offer."

Monken and Bailey have started to build a relationship, and multiple schools are in contact with the soon-to-be four-star prospect, but none have been in touch with Bailey like Ben McDaniels of Michigan.

It is still very early, and Bailey has no favorites, but the Wolverines have made a strong impression.

"I talk to coach McDaniels a lot and I have talked some with coach Harbaugh too. The staff at Michigan is awesome. Coach McDaniels is one of the best recruiters out there and he is fun to talk to. We talk ball, we talk about personal stuff and we have established a really good relationship.

"I was up there for the Notre Dame game last year and it was awesome. I saw the Big House and I really like the tradition they have. Tom Brady went there, they care so much about football and Michigan is just a great program."

The big offers don't stop at Georgia and Michigan. Schools like LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and West Virginia have pulled the trigger too.

Bailey took in the Florida game at LSU last season and that really opened his eyes.

"That was probably the best game I have ever seen in my life," said Bailey. "The fans and the atmosphere were awesome. I got to see early that LSU was going to be a contender and that Joe Burrow was going to have an awesome season.

"That visit to LSU was great. I have been talking to coach Ensminger and it is a place I want to get back."

With Bailey being a student-athlete in Alabama, and living just 30 minutes from Tuscaloosa and having a father (Lance Bailey) that played at Auburn, he has high interest in the Tide and Tigers.

He knows a lot about each program.

"Auburn has kind of been like second home since my dad played there and I grew up a big fan, so it would be great to get that offer. Auburn is a great place, they have great fans, and it would be great to get that offer.

"I feel the same way about Alabama. They are always winning, and to be able to work with guys like coach Saban and coach Sarkisian, that would be great. It is also really close to home, so there is a lot to like about Alabama and Auburn."

Both schools are showing interest in Bailey, and offers could come down the road, but he is not stressing about that right now.

"It is still early and people are always asking me about top schools and favorites, and I really couldn't tell you right now," said Bailey. "Sure, there are schools that I like, but I am really open to everyone.

"Outside of Alabama and Auburn, schools like Florida State, Clemson and Ohio State are showing interest, so it is still early for me.

"I am not thinking too much about offers or recruiting right now. I just want to get back out, visit Georgia and LSU again, get back to Auburn and Alabama, visit Florida State and just keep building relationships.

"I am just going to keep working and seeing what comes next."
