Alabama DB staying open

Hoover (Ala.) defensive back Max Lerner, currently holding two offers, is hearing from a number of schools in his region and beyond.
The recruiting process has gotten off to a quick start with Southern Mississippi and Middle Tennessee State being the first two schools to offer. Now, the 5-foot-10 defensive back is looking for more form the likes of Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt.
"I've been talking to all of those schools," Lerner said. "They kind of all say the same thing. I had shoulder surgery so they all kind of want to see how I bounce back after that."
"I don't think it affected me that much, but I understand why coaches are hesitant."
There are a few favorites out in the open for Lerner.
"I like Tennessee and Auburn a lot," Lerner said. "I've always been an Auburn fan and Tennessee always showed me the most interest and I really liked it down there at their camp."
Lerner, who is slated to make a late decision on his recruitment, has not set up any official visits yet. He's got a pretty good idea though of where he might be going.
"I know I'm going to Tennessee when they play Georgia, Auburn when they play Georgia Tech, and I think I'm going to the Southern Miss game when they play Alabama," Lerner said.
Of the schools that have offered, Lerner seems to be very interested in the first options.
"Well Southern Miss. Was my first offer so that's up there and then Middle Tennessee actually had a camp at my school that I went to," Lerner said. "My coach encouraged me to go, I did, and they offered."
