Alabama DB setting camp plans

Opelika (Ala.) defensive back Adrian Kindred hopes to raise his stock this summer with a few camp appearances.
“Coach says a lot of people have shown some interest and I’ve had a few calls from people like Alabama, LSU, Clemson and Central Michigan, but I don’t have any offers yet,” he said. “I’m hoping I get a few this summer. I’ve been working out real hard, and I’m ready to show what I can do at camp.”

He said he plans to make camp appearances at LSU, Florida State and Auburn.
Opelika generally sends a lot of top prospects to Auburn, but Kindred said the Tigers haven’t been as active in his recruitment as other schools. Alabama may have the upper hand with Kindred, whose mother attended the school. He grew up rooting for the Crimson Tide.
“I like them. Always have,” he said. “I like the campus a lot, and they have great tradition. But the coaching situation there is a little confusing. I don’t know much about the new guys. I’m hoping to hear from them sometime soon.”
He said LSU also has his attention.
“I’ve been watching them a lot on TV the last couple of years,” he said. “They’ve got a good team coming up. I think they’re going to do some big things. Plus, they have one of my former teammates (DT Melvin Oliver) down there. He really likes it.”
Kindred (6-1, 200, 4.4) has a reputation as a raw athlete with good upside due to his athleticism. He recently shaved a tenth of a second off his 40 time and also boasts a 35-inch vertical jump. As a junior, he recorded 66 tackles and 12 pass break-ups at free safety.
He’s also a solid student who projects as a qualifier. He maintains a 3.5 GPA and has scored a 17 on his first ACT attempt. He’ll take the test again in June in hopes of reaching a higher score.
