Alabama DB sets three officials

One of the South’s rising defensive back prospects has scheduled his first three official visits.
“I’ve set official visits for Alabama, Clemson and Auburn,” said Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest corner Travis Robinson. “I’ll be going to Clemson on Jan. 9, Auburn on Jan. 16 and Alabama on Jan. 30.

“The other two spots are still up in the air, but I’m looking real close at LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina and Mississippi State.”
Robinson (5-10, 180, 4.4) says he’s received calls from each of the top seven schools on his list on a weekly basis since the contact period opened in September. He also received personal visits at school from LSU and Georgia last week and Mississippi State and UAB on Friday.
Many believe the Crimson Tide are in the driver’s seat for Robinson. Asked how he felt about that, he said: “I definitely like them a lot. I’ve been to all of their home games this year, and I’m going to go see them play at Ole Miss next weekend. I know a lot of people say I’m going there no matter what, but I’m still open right now. Auburn and Clemson are looking real good. It will come down to how much playing time is available for me, mainly, and the coaches I’ll be playing for.”
In addition to his Alabama unofficial visits, Robinson saw Auburn take on USC earlier this year. He said he’s been encouraged by the Tigers’ progress since their rough start.
He hopes to check out games at LSU, Mississippi State and Clemson before the season ends.
Hillcrest is off to a 6-1 start this season and in contention for the Class 6A title. Robinson has recorded 32 tackles and three interceptions. He also has two kickoff returns for touchdowns.
“I’m averaging 58 yards on kickoff returns, but nobody is kicking to me anymore after I scored on two early this year,” he said.
As a junior, he tallied 43 tackles and five interceptions.
Academically, he maintains a 3.0 GPA and has scored an 18 on the ACT.
