Alabama center loves Tuscaloosa

Killen (Ala.) Brooks center Evan Cardwell is looking forward to the Alabama playoffs now that the havoc has been cleared from the Alabama commitment’s recruiting front.
“Everything’s pretty quiet with the other schools,” Cardwell said. “I stay in touch with the coaches at Alabama, and I’ve been to all but two of their home games. I love the game day atmosphere in Tuscaloosa, and it’s really the reason I committed there. It’s just incredible, and Tuscaloosa feels like home already to me.”

While Brooks High’s star lineman said the team’s season fell short of some of his goals, he was confident that Brooks has more ahead of them.
“We’re 6-4 heading into the first round of the playoffs this week, and we’re just looking ahead now,” he said. “I’ve been healthy all yeah, and things have been going pretty well, so I’m just trying to build on it. I’m playing center now, but I’ll probably move to offensive guard next year. I’m excited about that … it’s my favorite position on the offensive line.”
Regardless of how the playoffs conclude, Cardwell is confident that he can make a difference at Alabama, and he’s looking forward to reuniting with some former teammates.
“I try to go 100 percent every time and be as physical as I can,” he said. “I give it all I’ve got, and usually if I can be tougher than my opponent I’ll have him whipped. It’ll be nice to hook back up with a few of my buddies and some old teammates at Alabama. I played with Will and Freddie Roach here at Brooks, and it’ll be real nice to play with them again.”
