Alabama after Oregon WR commit

Since committing to Oregon last November, four-star Memphis (Tenn.) White Station wide receiver Dillon Mitchell has kept a low profile on the recruiting trail. Instead of taking visits to other programs, he has stayed loyal to the Ducks, opting instead to focus on his high school career.

But this summer the two separate focuses came together when Mitchell's team attended camps at both Mississippi State and Alabama. Both SEC programs made sure to let Mitchell know that even though they hadn't seen him in a while, he is still very much on their mind.
"Alabama especially let me know that they still really want me," the 6-foot, 189-pound wide receiver said. "I saw the campus a little bit and I met with Coach (Billy) Napier. He showed me a video presentation with Julio Jones and Amari Cooper then they had a picture of me and it was like they were passing the torch to me. I thought that was pretty cool. I kind of like the way he approached me about it."
Mitchell said he liked seeing the facilities at both Mississippi State and Alabama, but had to give the edge to the Ducks when it came to which school's made the best impression.
"I believe everybody's facilities are great," he said. "But I think Oregon has by far the best facilities of any college I've seen."
Mitchell had hoped to visited Eugene this summer, but it's looking like his next trip out west will be for his official visit in the fall. Until then, he's keeping in regular contact with the coaching staff.
"I talk to three or four of the coaches every other day," he said. "I have to say I have the best relationship with Coach (Mark) Helfrich. It's nice to be able to talk to him whenever I need to and he can answer any questions I might have."
After attending Oregon's victory over Stanford in person last year, Mitchell said he has big plans for his official visit to Eugene this fall.
"I'll be going out there for the USC game," he said. "It was crazy when I went there last time so I'm hoping it's like that again."
Mitchell, who is on track to enroll early in January, said he has no plans to visit other schools in the future.
