Dothan (Ala.) Northview running back Jaleen Thomas got on the board with a BCS offer during the spring and he is hoping to add to his list this off-season. According to Thomas, Mississippi State offered the 6-foot, 210-pound running back after his spring game. However, his coach didn't tell him to later.
"It feels good to have the offer," Thomas said. "I didn't even know I had it until Coach (LaBrian) Stewart told me. After that it felt real good knowing I had it."
Thomas has yet to visit Starkville, but he is planning to check out the Bulldogs during the camp circuit.
This fall he took multiple trips to Florida State to the see the Seminoles. FSU had success at Northview last season, landing four-star defensive back Marquez White.
"I was there for the Miami game," Thomas said. "It was real packed. There were a little people standing because they didn't have anywhere to sit. I like the running backs they have there, along with the coaches. When I'm there it's like being around family."
Thomas hopes to land a FSU offer. If the Seminoles come calling, he said they will be at the top of his list.
As a kid he grew up rooting for Alabama because his uncle Curtis McGriff played defensive line for the 'Tide before spending seven seasons in the NFL.
Over the summer he wants to attend summer camps at Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee, among others.
The junior said Arkansas is sending him the most mail right now and schools like Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Vanderbilt have reached out. He plans to take his time before make a decision.
