Akers looking for offers

Parkton (Md.) Hereford offensive guard Joe Akers is one of the top offensive line prospects in the state of Maryland. Akers has received several verbal offers but is still waiting for the written offers to start rolling in.
"I have been verbally offered a scholarship from a few schools but I won't list it as an offer until it is in writing," said the 6-foot-2, 315-pound lineman who runs the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds.

Who is recruiting Akers?
"I would say the schools that are recruiting me the hardest are Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, Michigan, Marshall, Connecticut, and Boston College. I don't have a favorite at this point. I am just taking my time with the process."
Akers has a busy camp schedule ahead of him and hopes his performance will land him some written offers.
"I plan on camping at Florida, Marshall, Syracuse, Boston College, and Virginia. Those are the schools that said I have a good shot at getting an offer if they had a chance to see me up close."
Akers, who maintains a 3.0 GPA, said he would like to make his decision before the start of his senior season.
