Ahrenhold makes a decision

Cornerback Tyler Ahrenhold out of Philadelphia (Pa.) Chestnut Hill Academy holds an offer from Arizona. The 6-foot-0, 167-pounder has decided to bypass that chance instead preferring to walk-on at a school closer to home.
"I'm going to be a preferred walk-on at Penn State," he stated. "That means that they don't have any money for me, but I've got a spot on the roster and hopefully can earn a scholarship next year if I work hard and get better."

Was there any reason for the Keystone State prospect to turn down a Division-I scholarship?
"I had offers from Arizona and William & Mary," he said. "Basically when I went up to Penn State, it just felt like home for me. All the coaches are great and it gives me an opportunity to play for coach Paterno, who wouldn't want to pass that up. For me, it was a no brainer. I had been up there a number of times and I just love it."
Penn State's coaching staff is confident the walk-on can contribute in the future.
"They are saying they believe in me and want to see what I can do in June," he said. "I know Penn State pulls in the top talent around, but if I work hard with the coaching staff they think I can make an impact either at cornerback, safety or wide receiver."
Ahrenhold finishes by saying.
"I'm excited and ready to go up there," he said. "I know it'll be tough because Penn State is a hell of a program, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens and being a part of the program."
