Agyeman talks about his commitment

Tonight, the University of Oregon just inherited several hundred fans who stayed after the Lake Park Lancers blowout win over Elgin Larkin tonight on the hardcourt to hear Agyeman's final college choice. The Lancer fans were quacking after Lake Park three star ranked defensive back prospect Kwame Agyeman verballed to the University of Oregon.
"After alot of consideration, I'd decided that after my visit to Oregon that I wanted to be a Duck and I want to help Coach Belotti win a national title. I feel estatic right now, and being able to make my announcement in front of my family, friends, teammates and fans was just an awesome feeling. Now I need to just focus on getting my body ready to play, because the coaches expect me to come into Eugene next summer ready to play."

So how important was his official visit to Oregon in helping Agyeman make his final decision? "It was really important, and deep down I knew after I returned from that visit that I wanted to play for Coach Belotti and the Ducks. It came down to Oregon and Arizona, and Arizona really made a great try to get me to chance my mind, and if they had a full year to recruit me it might of been a different story. I'm just really happy how things have worked out, and I'm a Duck now."
"The last few weeks thing had gotten really crazy with colleges calling me. But overall I really enjoyed the whole process, I've been a big fan of recruiting and following where different kids are heading. The worst part was having to tell school's that your not interested, that was the hardest part of all."
What about the reports earlier this week that had mentioned Colorado and possibly Nebraska getting a late visit and interest from Agyeman? According to Agyeman, "That's over now, I can't imagine anyone being able to top Oregon. I'm a solid commit to Oregon no question, and I feel like heading to Eugene this week and starting to practice already, I'm that pumped and that excited about being a Duck."
"I'm feeling kind of relieved. I've been holding this feeling and announcement in for so long, it feels really good to have this announcement out and over with, and having everyone here with me makes it that much more special. It will be nice to have our phones back."
Was distance ever really a factor at all in helping make his final decision? "No, I know that Oregon is along way from Lake Park but my brother (Nana) is thinking about moving out to Oregon as well, but I wanted to make Oregon my new home after my visit and I really felt at home there, so the distance was never that big of a factor."
Juaven Agyeman, the mother of Kwame talked about her son's final decision. "Things just got crazy with the calls, but I'm so proud of Kwame because he really took his time and made sure to visit each school that he was interested in. My concern was that Kwame go to the school where he could get the best education, and he's done that."
