Aggies land crucial OL commitment in 4-Star Grayson Reed

Houston, Texas, offensive guard Grayson Reed announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Saturday night, giving the Aggies their third four-star commitment in the 2017 class.

Reed announced his Top 12 teams two-and-a-half weeks ago and included programs like Baylor, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. After making a visit a few weeks earlier to Friday Night Lights, Reed committed while at the Aggies spring game on April 9. In a recorded sit-down meeting with Kevin Sumlin, he told the Aggies head coach that he loved the coaches and the program, and that he felt at home at College Station.

Rivals reaction: Reed is a player that had been recruited mostly as an interior lineman and seemingly is best placed there. He spent last season at offensive tackle but has an easier time blocking opponents’ inside moves and mashing them down the line of scrimmage. He does a great job setting a base in pass protection and has little bad weight on his frame. Reed’s build is well-suited for an up-tempo offense, but his best days should still be ahead of him as he continues to add more upper-body strength. Offensive line coach Jim Turner is making a crucial impact with Aggies targets and Reed will certainly help him fill out the rest of A&M’s offensive line class this year.
