Aggies continue strong lead for Shankle

It's been an interesting recruiting process for Lufkin, Texas all-purpose back E.J. Shankle who intended on making an early decision. Many thought he did that when rumors circled that he had pledged to Texas A&M.
However, this rumor proved to be false and the 5-foot-10, 180-pound three-star continues to be on the market. However, the three-star rated No. 8 all-purpose back in the country, says his leader is very clear.

"Texas A&M is my top school, no doubt, but I think that's what got people confused," Shankle said about the Aggies. "When I went down there, people thought I had committed because I said they were my top choice. I was pretty surprised when I heard that. I had to call all the other schools to tell them I was still interested in them."
Those schools that Shankle remains interested in include LSU, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. With the Aggies leading, those programs are trying to get their foot in the door.
"LSU is kind of my No. 2 and OSU and Tech are tied for No. 3," Shankle said. "Coach Bradley Dale Peveto calls me a lot and we've built up a good relationship. I just know more about Texas A&M from talking with Jorvorskie Lane and the guys we have down there."
Shankle says all of his favorite schools have talked about making in-home visits very soon. He also added that after the playoffs get done with, he'll make some more visits.
"I know I'll be going to LSU and Texas Tech," Shankle said. "I don't know what Leonard Hewitt is going to do. He's a crazy guy, so it's tough to tell what he's thinking."
The No. 59 rated player in the state of Texas says he is still planning on deciding after the season.
