Aggies, Bears offer Dallas LB

Dallas (Texas) W.T. White linebacker DeMaurier Thompson picked up his first two scholarship offers last week and one of the two schools is emerging as a favorite as spring practice draws near.
"I got an offer from Baylor and Texas A&M last week," the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Thompson said. "Those two really got me thinking and I'm thinking about committing to Texas A&M. I haven't done anything yet, mostly because I have to talk to my mom about it."

The offer from Dennis Franchione's team has vaulted the Aggies to the top of the pack at this time.
"I would say they are my leader right now," Thompson said. "I've gotten to like a lot about the A&M program and the school. I want to major in engineering and they are a really good college for that. And the atmosphere at games from the crowds is something that really stands out about them."
No coaches have been by the school, yet, to see Thompson in action, because he hasn't been on the field.
"Nobody has been here yet. We haven't started spring practice. On April 25, we start up. I will miss the first week of practice because I'm out for track, but I'll get there after that."
Thompson is looking at making an early decision.
"I would like to get my decision out of the way," he said. "I don't want to rush it, but if I feel comfortable, I'll go ahead and do it."
