Afutiti has impressive offer list

One name that hasn’t been getting as much attention as deserved is Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser’s Bernard Afutiti. The 6-0, 220 pound athlete is a two time all-state Underclass selection and has a very impressive scholarship offer list to his name.
Afutiti followed a strong sophomore season with an ever bigger junior year totaling 127 tackles and 17 quarterback sacks to earn not only first team all-state honors by CalHiSports.com but Student Sports Junior All-American honors as well. The athlete has always played as a rush defensive end but his size could dictate a move to linebacker and that’s where a lot of schools are recruiting him right now.

“I have offers right now from USC, Washington, Michigan and Oregon State and they all like me at linebacker,” Afutiti said. “I haven’t set up any of my trips yet but those four schools are all my favorites and I want to visit all of them before I make a decision. Right now, I’m focusing more on our season and will worry about recruiting later.”
Afutiti has attended the NorCal Nike Camp the past two years and looked good this year. He's very strong and has a quick first step. He doesn't have great speed but plays fast and has good overall athleticism. Afutiti is one of those players you can describe as playing with their hair on fire. He never takes a down off and plays with great passion on the field.
Afutiti is LDS and will take his Mormon mission right out of high school but all the schools recruiting him have told him that is not a problem and they will hold his scholarship for him when he returns. Academically, Afutiti is carrying a 3.0 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year.
