Adams debating heading out of state

Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro defensive tackle Corey Adams has seemingly been stuck at the same point in his recruitment for quite some time. The problem is, he doesn't know when it will move forward but he is taking this week at the Under Armour All-American Game to truly evaluate all of his options.

The 6-foot-3, 277-pound defender has taken his official visits and narrowed his final list to three schools and says each has its reasons for being among the finalists.

"I've taken officials to Ohio State, Arizona State, Nebraska and USC," Adams said. "I've narrowed it to Ohio State, USC and ASU.

"At Ohio State and USC, I really liked their tradition. They both have big programs. ASU is the home team and is up-and-coming."

Ohio State is quite a bit farther from home than the other two programs and Adams says he is unsure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

"You know, that's really a day-to-day change. Some days it's a positive and some days it's a negative," he said of the distance. "I've lived in Arizona my whole life so part of me wants to get away and part of me wants to stay where I'm comfortable."

Adams has had a chance to host the assistant coaches of all three schools a number of times at his home and has even welcomed two of the three head coaches. He said the visits have all gone well because he feels comfortable with all of the coaches.

""I've had the list narrowed for some time, so it's really just the three schools that have been doing in-homes. ASU and Ohio State have already used their head coach's visit. They were good visits. I mean, they were really the same thing as the official. Of course, it was in my home setting instead of theirs. It really wasn't much talking about football as much as it was just hanging out. Pete Carroll from USC hasn't come by yet. I'm not sure if he's planning to or not."

Adams says he has no set plan for when he will make his final decision. In fact, he says it gets harder to choose by the day.

"I don't have a timeline," he said. "I'm still thinking every day, talking to my family and everything. I'm just not ready to make a decision and I don't know when I will be."

Adams is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 100 overall prospect in the entire nation as well as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Arizona. He is the No. 9 ranked defensive tackle.
