ACC school leads for Bresnahan, but he has his eye on others

EMERSON, Ga. — The first school to offer 2018 tight end Ben Bresnahan was Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons offered the 6-foot-4, 230 pounder out of Cummings (Ga.) West Forsyth shortly after he completed his sophomore year. That has given head coach Dave Clawson and his staff a head start.

Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Minnesota, Mississippi State and UCF among others have added their name to Bresnahan's offer list in recent months with more offers likely on their way.

He has visited schools like Clemson and Michigan, both have shown more interest in the three star recently and there are expected to be many coaches at West Forsyth next month to check on the jumbo-athlete who naturally snatches the ball out of the air.

The new offers are nice and Bresnahan is taking visits and exploring all of his options, but lets rewind back to last summer, that is when Wake Forest gave him his first offer and over the past nine months, they have really impressed Bresnahan.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

WAKE FOREST: "Wake Forest is up there for me and they have really been showing me a lot of attention," said Bresnahan. "They were the first to offer, so that means something to me and it has them up top out of the schools that have offered. They liked me at their camp, they made me feel comfortable and they have really recruited me hard. I would love to get on the field my freshman or sophomore year and they are losing a couple of tight ends, so playing time might be there for me too.

NEXT UP: "I also like Clemson, Michigan and Duke a lot. I was up at Clemson not too long ago and I like the coaches there a lot. Coach [Brent] Venables (defensive coordinator) and I have been talking, so it would be nice to get an offer from them soon. I like how they use their tight ends in their offense. Academics with Duke stand out to me a lot because I want to go into the medical field. I like the offense they run too. With Michigan, I have been up there, I love how they feature the tight end and it is a great school."

SUMMER COMMITMENT: "I have been telling myself that I want to be committed before my senior season. I am thinking late summer, somewhere around August will be a good time for me. I just want to get it done before the season starts."

RIVALS REACTION: Bresnahan is drawing more and more attention as we ease into the spring and his offer list is expected to grow more in the coming months. That will lead him right into his decision by mid August. He is used a lot at wide receiver in high school, so he wants to be featured in an offense at tight end on the next level. He knows he will have to block more, but how a school uses its tight end and the academics will play a big role. Wake Forest has done an excellent job making him feel like a priority, but keep an eye on who offers over the next two months. An offer or two, depending on who it is from could be immediate game-changers for Bresnahan.
