Abner piling up written interest

Several top players have walked the halls and field for Desoto (Texas) High School and running back Adrian Abner is one of those talented young men to be on the recruiting hot list for the class of 2007.
The talented running back admits he's not the biggest player on the field, but after his first varsity season as a junior this past fall, he racked up 1,180 yards on 179 attempts with six scores. Now, Abner says that the mail is starting to come and he's getting noticed.

"I haven't had any offers come yet, but I'm getting a lot of stuff in letters," Abner said about his early recruiting interest. "Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Iowa have all sent me a lot of stuff."
Abner, who says the early favorite is Miami, looks like he'll be hitting some travel plans up first before coming to any big decisions. While he plans to attend the NIKE Training Camp in College Station, he also will be camping at Texas A&M this summer.
The Aggies have also hosted Abner on a junior day trip.
Now, as Abner looks back on his first start last year, he knows he's come a long way.
"That first game, you have to get adjusted," Abner said. "After that, it just feels normal and natural. It was a good year for me. I got moved up to start last year and I just really got going."
That season earned Abner an all-district performance. Now, that hard work will be what carries him to the next level as a senior.
"I'm not the biggest guy out there, but I give it what I've got," he said. "I just pride myself on being a hard worker."
