Abiamiri reacts to South Bend

One of the nation's best defensive ends took a trip to South Bend last weekend and received star-treatment from Notre Dame. Victor Abiamiri enjoyed his trip to South Bend, but did it push the Irish up his list?
"The thing that sticks out first of all, is how great a coach they have. Coach Willingham gets a lot of attention and he deserves it, because he seems so honest with you. He seems like he cares about every single person on his team a whole lot, and that's important.

"They have a really nice school with great academics. The fans love football and the tradition is maybe the best in college football. The area is pretty nice too. If you graduate from Notre Dame you get a lot of respect."
Abiamiri had a tremendous senior season for Baltimore (Md.) Gilman. He picked up 52 tackles at defensive end while recording 12 sacks and 17 tackles for loss.
"I had a good year," said Abiamiri, who possesses ideal size for a developing defensive end at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds. "We could have played better at times and I could have too, but it was a pretty good year."
Is there a leader at this point?
"I'm not going to get ahead of myself and say anyone's my leader yet," laughed Abiamiri. "You learn your lesson from other players that do that. I'm going to take my visits then decide which I enjoyed best."
Abiamiri has trips scheduled to Miami (Dec. 13), Maryland (Dec. 20) and North Carolina (Jan. 10) remaining.
