Abiamiri Notre Dame bound

Baltimore (Md.) Gilman defensive end Victor Abiamiri won't be attending the University of Maryland as many expected.
In a story by ESPN The Magazine writer Bruce Feldman that appeared on ESPN.com, it has been reported that Maryland has dropped out of the race for the talented defensive end due to a recruiting violation.

In a later story run on the website of the Baltimore Sun, it has been reported that Maryland is investigating an assistant coach who was believed to have offered money in excess of $300 to Abiamiri.
In a statement released this morning, the university said a review of the possible recruiting violation was underway and that the NCAA has been informed.
Abiamiri, a 6-foot-5, 245-pounder recently bumped to a five-star rating by Rivals based on his outstanding performance in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, is not being investigated. It is believed he will sign with Notre Dame on Wednesday.
Calls placed to the athletic department at Gilman have not been returned as yet. Efforts to reach Abiamiri have also been unsuccessful.
