Abiamiri Impressed With Winning

The spotlight has been on Baltimore (MD) Gilman defensive end Victor Abiamiri for a couple of years. As a senior, he’s already noticing the increased attention, due in part to his excellent play.
“I got information and calls from coaches and stuff in the past, but it’s really amazing right now,” Abiamiri said. “I get stuff from some schools almost every day and every day there’s a ton of new stuff in the mail.”

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound strongside defensive end is doing absolutely nothing to damage his stock, which has actually rapidly increased with his early season performances.
“We’ve played a couple of games and both were against teams that were supposed to be great. They might be, but our defense handled them. I got four sacks in the first game, and was in the backfield the whole time. The second game I only had one, but our defense still shut them down.”
Abiamiri, believe it or not, is actually improving upon his 40-yard dash time, which is reportedly run in 4.5 seconds. Who is at the top of his list right now?
“I’m starting to like Miami a little bit,” Abiamiri said. “They have been great since the 80’s, and they’ll probably win another championship this year. There’s always something to do in Miami, so you wouldn’t get bored. I also like Notre Dame, mostly because of their coach and their tradition. I’ve liked UCLA, Southern Cal, and Stanford for a while, because I like California and the Pac 10. Maryland and North Carolina are the two ACC schools I’m really looking at.”
With somewhere between 35 and 45 offers, Abiamiri can just about choose where he wants to play at the next level.
“Everybody tells me I can go wherever I want. I try not to take that for granted, because I’ve been blessed with great ability. The opportunity to play big-time college football and get a free education is amazing.”
